Genome Archive

The Robert M. Cook-Deegan Genome Archive is founded on the bibliography of The Gene Wars: Science, Politics, and the Human Genome, published in 1994 by W. W. Norton and Co., Inc. The full text of the book has been digitized and is available at no cost for educational use.

Selected items from Dr. Cook-Deegan's full bibliography have been digitized to support research on the history of genomics.

You may access these documents in the following ways:

  1. by retrieving a full list of all items digitized to date in reverse chronological order;
  2. by searching a subset of documents referencing corporate and legal entities (such as government agencies, educational and private institutions, and laws)*; or
  3. by free-text searching of a) words, names, or phrases (phrases must be entered within double quotation marks), and/or b) classification numbers from the National Reference Center for Bioethics Literature Classification Scheme.

*Representation of corporate names is complex. Selecting names and phrases from this list will serve to standardize these entries, collect multiple subunits within the parent organization, and minimize keying effort for the searcher.

Please note that the bibliographic entries for these materials have been added to the ETHXWeb database of the Bioethics Research Library. By searching ETHXWeb, you may find additional materials relevant to the topic of your search.
