Conditions of Use

By using the DNA Patent Database (DPD) Site (hereafter referred to as "the Site") you are indicating your acceptance of these Conditions of Use. The Site contains information regarding U. S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) patents, and also contains additional documents to assist in classifying and searching on the Site. The U.S. patent information is directly taken from USPTO text tape releases, reformatted and indexed for retrieval.

You may use the Site only for your personal, lawful research, and information gathering purposes. You may not modify, adapt, sub-license, translate, sell, reverse engineer, de-compile or disassemble any portion of the Site. Duke University and Georgetown University's Kennedy Institute of Ethics do not maintain records of the search entries submitted by, or results obtained by users of the Site.

Duke University and Georgetown University's Kennedy Institute of Ethics are not responsible for:

  1. the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, reliability, content or availability of any information you receive as a result of your use of the Site,
  2. loss or damage to your records or data, or
  3. your use of, or results achieved from any information you receive as a result of your use of the Site.
All data that are available to you from the Site are provided "AS IS" without warranty or condition of any kind, either express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Duke University and Georgetown University's Kennedy Institute of Ethics will not be liable to you for damages of any kind relating to the use of the Site, including any direct damages or any special, incidental, or indirect damages or any consequential damages (including lost profits or savings.)
